 Force 

it can be defined as the cause of change in the state of motion copper particle or body.

According to to Newton's law of motion force is the product of mass of the particle and its acceleration.

Force is denoted by F

Mathematically 

F=ma

Where m = mass of the particle

a = acceleration of the particle

type of forces 


Characteristics of forces

If a force has following basic characteristics. these are as follows

  1. Magnitude 
  2. direction 
  3. point of application 
  4. line of action

how to write a force

as we know force is vector quantity

 A force system is a collection of forces acting on a body.

force system is simply a term used to describe a group of forces.

classification of force system -

force system classify on the basis of following

1.     the plane on which it act or coplanar force system

2.     the direction on which it act or parallel force system

3.     the point of application on which it act or concurrent force system

4.     the line of force on which it act or collinear force system

classification on the basis of plane on which forces act -

1.     co-planer force system

2.     non-co-planer force system.

co-planer force system

a force system is said to be co-planer force system if all the force acting on the body are in same plane .



here forces are  F1,F2.F3,F4 are acting on a same plane.




non-co-planer Force system.

ca force system is said to be non-co-planer force system if all the force acting on the body are not in same plane .


here forces are  F1,F2.F3,F4 are acting on a same plane.

classification based on direction of forces by (parallel force system)

parallel force system

a force system is said to be parallel force system if all the force acting on the body are parallel to each other .

here forces are  F1,F2.F3,F4 are acting

parallel force system further classified into two type

1.     like parallel force system

2.     unlike parallel force system

like parallel force system

a force system is said to be like parallel force system if all the force acting on the body are parallel to each other and acting in same direction .



here forces are  F1,F2.F3,F4 are acting in same direction .



unlike parallel force system

a force system is said to be unlike parallel force system if all the force acting on the body are parallel to each other and acting not in same direction .

here forces are  F1,F2.F3,F4 are acting not in same direction .




classification based on the point of application

concurrent force system further classified into two type

   1.concurrent force system  
2.     non-concurrent force system

concurrent force system

a force system is said to be concurrent force system if all the force acting on the body are meeting at a single point .



here forces are  F1,F2.F3,F4 are meeting at a single point .



non-concurrent force system

a force system is said to be non-concurrent force system if all the force acting on the body are not meeting at a single point .



here forces are  F1,F2.F3,F4 are not meeting at a single point .



based on the line of force on which it acts or collinear force system

force system further classified into two type

1.     collinear force system

2.     non- collinear force system

collinear force system-

a force system is said to be collinear force system if all the force acting on the body are lies in a single line of force .



here forces are  F1,F2.F3,F4 are lies in a single line of force .



non-collinear force system-

a force system is said to be non-collinear force system if all the force acting on the body are not lies in a single line of force .



here forces are  F1,F2.F3,F4 are not lies in a single line of force .

coplanar and concurrent force system

a force system is said to be coplanar and concurrent force system if all the force acting on the body are coplanar and concurrent .

non-coplanar and non-concurrent force system

a force system is said to be coplanar and concurrent force system if all the force acting on the body are non-coplanar and non-concurrent .

The effect of forces 

the following are the erect of Force

  1. Force can make a stationary object to move or make a moving object to move faster. 
  2. force can slowdown or completely stop a moving object
  3.  force can change direction of a moving object.
  4. force can change shape and size or object.
